PRINCE William and Kate will dress the royal baby in Melbourne-made clothes after buying a big order of babywear from Down Under.
Sapling, a small babywear business comprising of school teacher Peta Stinson and her husband, got an online order from Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge for 100 per cent organic clothes.
"It was a big order, Stinson confirmed. "We sent everything in a box.
She is bound by confidentiality agreements on what the royal couple ordered and how much they spent.
Stinson said: "Our items are quite gender specific. She hasn't had the baby yet, so we are not allowed to say what she wanted.”
But Stinson reveals they broke royal rules when they sent the babywear to box to Clarence House, home of Prince Charles, Duchess of Cornwall, and Prince Harry.
"We did make a mistake,'' Stinson said. "We made a booboo on the package. We sent it to Her Royal Highness, Duchess Of Cambridge, then after it I wrote: ‘Catherine Middleton’.
"When it arrived we were told we weren't supposed to address her like that, it’s just Her Royal Highness, Duchess Of Cambridge. Thank you.''
She laughed: "We don't know the protocols.''
But Prince William and Kate are clearly aware about suitable clothes for the royal baby.
Sapling, which makes boys and girls clothes from birth to one-year-old, uses organic cotton and organic vegetable and water-based dyes in its products.
The home-based business launched last year.
Stinson, who is from Melbourne, designs the clothes at a base on the Gold Coast, where she is a school teacher.
"We are very excited to be dressing the royal baby, she said. For a tiny business to be sending our clothes to a royal palace is very thrilling.
"I know the royal baby will look beautiful in our designs.''
Then, probably breaking royal protocol again, she added: "We'd love them to send us a few pictures.''
